The Master System (1985)
The Master System was technically superior to the NES, but never managed to dethrone it in North America. However, it was very successful in Europe and Brazil, where it remains a legendary console to this day.
The Mega Drive / Genesis (1988)
With the slogan "SEGA does what Nintendon't", the Mega Drive directly challenged Nintendo. Sonic the Hedgehog became SEGA's mascot and one of video gaming's icons. Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat, FIFA... the Mega Drive's library is immense.
The Saturn (1994)
The Saturn was an ambitious console but was poorly launched against Sony's PlayStation. It is nonetheless highly valued by collectors for its fighting games and Japanese exclusives.
The Dreamcast (1998)
SEGA's last console is also one of its most beloved. A pioneer with its integrated modem for online gaming, the Dreamcast hosted visionary games like Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, and Soul Calibur. Unfortunately, it was discontinued in 2001, marking the end of SEGA's hardware adventure.
