Discover the history of retro Nintendo consoles: NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy. Legendary machines that shaped modern video gaming.
Nintendo is undoubtedly one of the most iconic brands in video game history. Since its beginnings in the 1980s, the Japanese company has created consoles that have captivated generations of gamers.
The Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES, literally saved the video game industry after the crash of 1983. With legendary titles like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid, the NES laid the foundations of modern video gaming.
Considered by many to be the best console of its era, the Super Nintendo offered stunning graphics and an exceptional game library. Street Fighter II, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger... so many masterpieces that still inspire awe today.
With the N64, Nintendo made the leap to 3D. Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remain among the most influential games of all time. The three-pronged controller, while controversial, introduced the analog stick that is still found on our modern controllers.
The Game Boy revolutionized portable gaming. Robust, with impressive battery life, it accompanied millions of players worldwide. Pokémon Red and Blue were also launched on this legendary console.
